Nueva Canción:

The Songs of Protest and Resistance

Conceptualized by Sandra Powers and Timur, the show is rooted in the Latin American song movement of the 1960s, which criticized political oppression  and spurred sociopolitical change. The project focuses on the songbook of Mercedes Sosa, with composers across the US and Latin America commissioned to create new arrangements of songs for T&DM. Nueva Canción is a NPN/VAN Creation and Development Fund Project co-commissioned by Beth Morrison Projects in partnership with Miami Light Project.
